The Fall months are a popular time in Wisconsin for engagement sessions! The weather is a little cooler and the leaves are changing – it makes for beautiful photos. One question I get often enough is couples wanting fall engagement photo ideas. Whether that be your outfit, the location of your photos, or the style of your photoshoot.
Engagement sessions don’t have to necessarily be serious. In fact, I prefer them not to be!
When the couple is doing something they enjoy and letting their “hair down” the photos turn out to be even more candid.
For Mercedes and Nick’s engagement photos, we chose a beautiful open location with the rolling hills in the background. (These are always some of my favorite shots – the ones where the scenery is unending. It adds so much to the aesthetic of the photos.)
The neat part of my job as a photographer is that two sessions are never the same. And boy, we were able to capture some super cool photos when Mercedes and Nick were all in for a mattress on water! Although these style of photos are not as traditional for an engagement session, they are still romantic and leave some of the best memories for the bride and groom to share on their wedding day.
Here are a few more fun, unique, and non-traditional fall engagement photos.
Living in the midwest, we have so many gorgeous views to take advantage of when it comes to where you’ll have your engagement session and what you can do to make it unique.
From high hills, the comfort of your own home, atop large rocks with a view (like this one at Gibraltar Rock), wide open fields, or taking a splash in a nearby lake – there are many options to choose from when it comes to taking photos! When considering the time of day you take your photos, vote golden hour, always.
Choose a location and style that reflects you both as a couple. Is it more suburban? Remote? Amongst areas on your own land?
Whatever the choice may be, it’s always better when you, as a couple, feel the most comfortable.
I absolutely love Mercedes and Nick’s engagement session. This couple embraced each other, letting their “hair down,” and took this moment to enjoy the company of one another.
Here are more of Mercedes and Nick’s engagement photos. They are stunning!
