Looking for the ultimate location for desert engagement photos? Are you leaning more towards casual engagement photos? Even if you’re looking for California or Arizona elopement inspiration, you’ll find so much of that vibe here!
If this is you, I’m so excited to share Amanda and Kyle’s engagement session with you!
Heading to Palm Springs to photograph Amanda and Kyle’s engagement was one to remember! Southern California is absolutely beautiful, so if you haven’t been I highly recommend. The weather was warm and gorgeous here. Seeing the contrast between the mountains and desert, essentially right next to one another was truly a sight to see.
I’m so in love with Amanda and Kyle’s photos here!
Desert Engagement Photos Near Joshua Tree
Amanda and Kyle’s engagement photos were very close to Joshua Tree. It’s a unique and incredible place for elopements, engagement sessions, or even venturing out for family photos during sunset hours. The sun eventually begins to set, peeking behind the mountains and across the desert – perfect for photos whether planned or impromptu.
There are so many locations in Joshua Tree National park, you seriously cannot go wrong! Pretty much anywhere you pull over around, beside, or in Joshua Tree is absolutely stunning.
In this park, you’ll find lots of different hiking paths bringing you to beautiful landscape views throughout the entire area. It’s full of vegetation, cacti, trees, and lava rocks, which makes your photos here all the more fascinating. Really, unlike any other location you’ll find.
We were able to get fairly close to the windmills nearby, something you don’t see every day. So it was a great opportunity to document the adventure in this couple.
Joshua Tree Desert Engagement Photo Locations
With a vast variety of hiking trails and locations within Joshua Tree, it’s no surprise that many couples choose this area for their elopements, engagement sessions, or wedding ceremonies. If you decide on a wedding ceremony, you will have to pay a small permit fee. However, if you’re simply looking for a gorgeous photo session location, a permit is not required.
If you’re set on a Joshua Tree engagement location, you have a quite a few different options so I’ll walk through some of the most popular areas below.
Ryan Mountain
With elopements or engagement sessions, the location view is everything! The summit of Ryan Mountain is a pretty easy area to hike and one of the best places to capture photos in a bird’s eye, panoramic view. You’ll overlook some of the rock formations and a far out view of the mountains. Breathtaking!
Cholla Cactus Garden
As an elopement photographer, the Cholla Cactus Garden is one of the best for photos – a terrain filled with cacti and rare vegetation. This is one of the many reasons so many couples decide on Joshua Tree for their pre-wedding or big day wishes.
Rock Formations
Alright – the rock formations are so dang cool! If you’re planning a trip to Joshua Tree National Park, put rock formations on your bucket list of things to see (or take photos near). Since there are so many rock formations within Joshua Tree, it can really get the creative juice flowing for stunning engagement photos.
One of the many joys in the work I do is being able to capture a couple’s love story with timeless photos that will bring them joy for years to come. When I took these photos with Amanda and Kyle, it solidified why I turned my passion into my career – to capture photos of love like this one.
Are you wanting fun engagement or elopement photos near Joshua Tree? It will be a day you’ll never forget! Reach out to me and let’s do the dang thing!
If you’re looking for another elopement idea (not too far away), here’s a beautiful session I photographed for an Arizona Elopement at Lost Dutchman State Park.
